Showcase FC Basel U17

In this showcase, the Simpletransfer Academy took on the U17s of FC Basel – one of the best teams in Switzerland. The opponents showed their class right from the start and played at a very high level, which demanded a lot from the Academy’s young talents.
1st half:
Basel started the game with enormous pace and intense pressure. From the very first minute, they tried to steer the game in their direction and largely dominated proceedings. The Academy countered well and defended with a compact back line that was constantly under pressure. Basel had the majority of possession, but the defense around the goalkeepers was often on hand to prevent numerous top-class chances from Basel.
Basel then managed to make it 1:0 in the 25th minute after a beautifully executed attack – a goal that reflected Basel’s superiority. However, the Academy continued to show great commitment and the goalkeepers in particular prevented a further goal on several occasions. Shortly before the break, Basel made it 2:0, which meant that the deficit was two goals at half-time.
2nd half:
After the break, the Simpletransfer Academy changed their tactics and switched to a more passive pressing style to give Basel less space. This change had an effect: Basel still had the ball, but the Academy was able to gain more control and stabilize the game defensively. The more passive pressing worked better, as Basel were now more reliant on their mistakes. The Academy defended well and did not concede any more goals in the second half.
Although Basel remained the dominant team and had a few more dangerous chances in the final minutes, the Academy’s defense stood firm and the second half ended 0-0.
Conclusion:
The Simpletransfer Academy lost 2:0 to FC Basel U17, but was able to hold its own in many areas. FC Basel was a very strong opponent in all respects and showed the best level that can be expected in Switzerland at this age level. The first half in particular was characterized by Basel’s intense pressure, but the Academy showed a strong defensive performance and did not allow itself to be completely dominated. The 2:0 at half-time was deserved, but the Academy managed to keep the score at 0:0 in the second half with a tactical change and thus kept the game open, at least in the second half. Overall, it was an intense and instructive match in which the Simpletransfer Academy players were able to gain important experience at the highest level.
