Showcase FC Concordia Basel U16

On February 2024, the Simpletransfer Academy took on the U16s of FC Concordia Basel – an opponent characterized by its fast, intense play. The game was played on a small artificial pitch, which made it difficult for both teams to find their usual rhythm, especially at the start.
1st half:
Concordia Basel put Simpletransfer Academy under heavy pressure from the very first minute. The high tempo displayed by the Basel side initially gave the Academy team little room to get into the game. The Simpletransfer Academy players found it difficult to free themselves from the intense pressing and were unable to build up play properly. As a result, Basel took a deserved 2:0 lead in the first half. Despite the deficit, the Academy’s performance was not bad, but the difficulties caused by the opponent’s fast, aggressive play were noticeable.
2nd half:
After the break, the Simpletransfer Academy returned to the pitch with a better attitude. With a few changes, especially in midfield, the game became much better and more controlled. The team got into the game better, won more duels and was able to slow down the tempo somewhat, which reduced the pressure on Concordia Basel. Shortly before the end of the game, the Academy then managed to score the equalizer to make it 2:1, which made the game exciting again. A few more dangerous scenes followed, but the Basel team ultimately managed to hold on to their narrow lead.
Conclusion:
Although the Simpletransfer Academy lost 2:1, the players can be proud of their reaction in the second half. Especially after the changeover and the improved control in midfield, the team showed that it can keep up against a very strong and motivated opponent. The first 45 minutes were decisive, with the Academy struggling to keep up with their opponents’ high tempo. Nevertheless, the game as a whole was an intense, hard-fought match that showed off the opponent’s strengths and the Academy’s willingness to fight. In the end, the victory for Concordia Basel was well deserved, but the Simpletransfer Academy can be proud of their development and team spirit with their comeback in the second half.
